Wondering how to clean and care for your jewellery?
Follow these few simple steps.
1. Clean Jewellery with Gemstone
When your jewellery has precious or semi-precious stones in it, you’re going to need to be a bit more careful. Avoid soaking the jewellery and don’t use water that’s too warm, as both could loosen the glue that may be attaching the stones to the jewellery.
What you’ll need:
• Soft cloth or paper towel
• Small bowl with lukewarm water
• Mild liquid soap
• Cotton swab
Step by Step
1. Combine lukewarm water with a few drops of mild liquid soap in a bowl.
2. Dampen a cotton swab in the water and then clean away any dirt and oils.
Rinse, dab and dry the jewellery.
3. Do not use jewellery cleaner or a polishing cloth on vermeil jewellery as this
will buff off the 18k gold layer.
2. Clean Gold Vermeil
What you’ll need:
• Soft cloth or paper towel
• Small bowl with lukewarm water
• Mild liquid soap
• Cotton swab or soft-bristled toothbrush
Step by Step
1. Combine lukewarm water with a few drops of mild soap. Stir the soap into the water to create some foam. Add the jewellery and allow it to soak for about 5 to 10 minutes.
2. Remove dirt by using a cotton swab or a soft-bristled toothbrush. Avoid excessive scrubbing. Use gentle movement bit by bit to remove the impurities. Then rinse the piece thoroughly.
3. Dry the jewellery by using a soft cloth and buff the surface so it shines.
4. Do not use jewellery cleaner or a polishing cloth on vermeil jewellery as this
will buff off the 18k gold layer.
3. Everyday Consideration
Gold, silver and gemstones are not invulnerable to damage through everyday wear. To ensure longevity, we recommend:
1. Treat with care and avoid activities, which will expose your jewellery to knocks and scratches.
2. Please avoid exposing your jewellery to perfume, hair products, cosmetics, bleach, chemicals and cleaners.
3. Store your pieces separately to avoid scratching.
4. When you remove your jewellery for the day, get in the habit of giving it a quick wipe with a soft cloth.
4. Gold Vermeil
Our Vermeil pieces are made in 952 sterling silver and plated in a 2.5 - 3 microns thick layer of 18K gold.
Vermeil jewellery will gradually and naturally change lustre. Every wearer has different levels of acid, salt and oil in the skin which affects the precious metals’ colours and shine over time.
To keep the life of vermeil as long as possible, we recommend any application of perfume, hairspray, makeup, lotion and sunscreen before wearing the jewellery. Avoid showering, using harsh cleaning products, exercising or washing hands with the jewellery on as these substances can accelerate the tarnishing process.
Your daily routine will reflect on the metal as it will be inevitable to collect signs of wear and tear.
To polish vermeil jewellery, take a soft and dry 100% cotton cloth or microfiber cloth and gently wipe the surface. Do not use jewellery cleaner or a polishing cloth on vermeil jewellery as this will affect the durability of the 18k gold layer.
Please note: Tarnishing and general wear and tear including fine surface scratches, dullness, or minor colour changes are a natural part of silver jewellery’s evolution and, are expected over time. As such, these are not covered under our warranty.
5. Silver
Sterling silver will gradually and naturally evolve over time. Every wearer has different levels of acid, salt and oil in the skin which affects the precious metals’ colours and shine over time.
With a little love and attentension, your silver jewellery will keep its shine for years to come. We recommend any application of perfume, hairspray, makeup, lotion and sunscreen before wearing the jewellery.
Avoid showering, using harsh cleaning products, exercising or washing hands with the jewellery on as these substances can accelerate the tarnishing process.

To polish sterling silver jewellery, take a soft and dry 100% cotton cloth or microfiber cloth and gently wipe the surface. Alternativ, use jewellery cleaner or a polishing cloth for sterling silver.

6. Storage
Your jewellery should be stored individually in its original packaging, resealable pouch or jewellery box, out of direct sunlight, in a dry place and at room temperature to prevent it from being scratched, tangled or tarnishing.
7. Be Safe Than Sorry
Remove your jewellery before going to bed, submerging in water or exercising to avoid significant wear and tear, damage or potential loss.
8. TLC
Clean and polish your jewellery regularly to maintain lustre and check for wear and tear.
Gemstones
1. Spinel
Whilst spinel is considered rather durable with a hardness of 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, they aren’t invulnerable to mark and scratches. We recommend removing the jewellery before bathing, swimming or rigorous activities to maintain their glow and lustre.
2. Jade (Jadeite)
In terms of hardness jadeite comes in at 6.5 – 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. This means jadeite doesn’t easily get scratched. However they aren’t completely invulnerable to mark and scratches. We recommend removing the jewellery before bathing, swimming or rigorous activities to maintain the good condition.
