Simple in shape, yet rich in meaning, Mei is inspired by fortune cookies and traditional Chinese lucky motifs.

The thought was to create a jewellery line that is very recognisable yet infused with some distinctly Chinese aesthetic. While the fortune cookie itself is not a traditional Chinese invention, it is a playful symbol of surprise, luck, and curiosity, often enjoyed as a sweet treat after a meal here in the west.

By combining the clean shape of a fortune cookie with traditional Chinese lucky motifs, an idea borrowed from the bracelet my mother wore in her childhood, including the longevity lock, bell, and knots, the earring charm becomes a celebration of good fortune. A tiny token of positivity, and a touch of eastern mystery, ready to bring a little luck wherever it goes.
